The Primitives: Pure pop perfection


The Primitives 1988 album "Lovely" has to be one of my favorite pop records of all time. If you're a fan of the Dum Dum Girls sound, you'll love this album, although it's not as "shoegazy" as DDG, still has elements of lovely distorted guitars that are more pop than drony (you'll hear this on songs like Thru the Flowers, among others). Shadow sounds like something that could've been thrown on the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack due to it's heavy Indian/sitar (?) sound, but most of the songs are super sweet good ol' Brit pop.
