All in the family: Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

Thanks to Elliot who visited me at work yesterday and introduced me to this great R&B band from London consisting of two sisters, a brother (all under the age of 21), their mum (who was the drummer of the Raincoats!!) and dad: Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. The siblings play guitar, piano, banjo, lapsteel guitar, harmonica, double bass, ukulele, drums, trombone, xylophone and accordion. Holy shit, why haven't I heard of them until yesterday? Such a breath of fresh air, especially since every indie band sounds exactly alike nowadays (Zzzzz...) Their record label, Sunday Best, has released several of their records (CDs, LPs, 7") as well as a 78, which I'm going to try to order online today.

Check out this great live version of Canned Heat's "Going Up the Country" from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:

  1. These guys/girls are really amazing. My friend Trista and some other peeps just went to LA in July to see them live. She said it was pretty awesome too. They are so beautiful AND talented. Wow.
